Isn’t it true that first impressions are important? So when you walk up to a front door I think it is important for a warm welcome to wish you a Merry Christmas. In this 11th day of the 12 Days of Christmas, we share our front porch.
Meet Your Hosts
They have all been busy as Elves creating, decorating, cooking and crafting tons of new ideas for you to try this holiday season!
Ok, I don’t have a front porch, more like a covered entry. But I do like to decorate it to welcome guests. I have a metal planter that I absolutely love. It usually has live plants but for Christmas, I did something different
My friend took pity on me and gave me a tree because the one I had was so old and shedded more than a real tree. So I pulled it to the curb but not before I grabbed some branches. Some of the branches filled the planter. I considered adding poinsettias but decided to keep it simple. I stuck a gold Santa plant pick in the branches and the planter was done.
There are certain decorations I always get out every year. Such as the reindeer from a palm tree piece and the snowman. This year I used a sled I bought last summer at Good Will. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to do with it.
So when it came time to decorate the entry I decided to prop it up by the door but it needed something. That is when the idea to grab the branches popped into my head. I only had to hook the end of the branch on the sled. The branches were layered to create a cascade down the sled.
Then I wired the reindeer to the sled and put more branches around the bottom. The snowman was placed on the other side of the door. So that is how I am giving a warm welcome to wish you a Merry Christmas.
