What a challenge, for me at least. How to update by spraying it pretty. You may recall the last time I tried to spray paint furniture, a hurricane was on its way. But this time the weather is perfect and I’m using the Home Right Finish Max Sprayer to paint wicker.
This month’s challenge for The Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest® is sponsored by Home-Right. They produce great products to make working around the home easy.
When I found out Home Right was going to be the sponsor for January I knew exactly what I needed to spray paint. I have been dying to paint the wicker chairs and ottoman in my sun room. And as much as the chairs were in desperate need for a makeover there was no way I was going to use a paint brush.
Years ago when I decided the chairs needed to be painted I knew they had to be white. I was tired of the brown. It so happened I had gotten some white paint chips and decided on getting a clear, crisp white. I was ready to spray the world, starting with the chairs and ottoman. I got a gallon of paint because I wasn’t sure how much paint I would need and figured I’ll use the rest of it to paint the den.
On a beautiful sunny day with no rain in sight, I set up my Home Right Spray Shelter. Now I bought that a while ago and I highly recommend it. Home Right is a wonderful company with great products. Did I already say that?
What makes this sprayer different, at least from the one I used in another project, they provide a viscosity cup. And what this means is you can test the product you are going to use by timing it to know how many seconds it takes to flow out of the cup. Then you add, as in my case more water if needed so the paint will flow through the sprayer.
I was able to calculate the amount of paint thinned with water and got everything set up. Oh, my I couldn’t believe how quickly the ottoman got transformed. The ottoman went from a tired, old, outdated brown to a pretty, updated, clean crisp white. Oh yes, how pretty.
It didn’t take long to paint the two chairs and they look amazing. The next day I even painted a little rattan stand I use for the TV. Of course, the cushions needed a makeover also and that story is for another day but if you need to update a piece of furniture this is how to update by spraying it pretty. I also need a rug and maybe new accessories, don’t you think?
