Now it’s time to say goodbye to summer and think about fall decorating. Have you noticed little hints of it in Blogland? I love getting out my fall plates. I only have eight small bread plates but I do enjoy them. I bought them at Walmart several years ago. The plates coordinate with my cream ironstone dishes. I always feel melancholy when the seasons change. I hate letting go of summer and thinking about fall. Is it because I am getting older? Probably. In addition to getting out the plates I will put away the summer placemats, napkins and center pieces and decorate with more fall looking items. There are the pumpkins made out of wood edging and other decorations to put out to remind us the hot summer is fading away.
Even though I live in Florida I can see the seasonal changes. The days are still summer like, but the air feels just a bit cooler early in the morning. The grass and plants are looking worn out from so much heat and rain that we had this summer. The sky seems to have lost the blue intensity. The streets and highways are getting crowded because our visitor’s come down earlier and earlier to get out of the cold.
And our favorite craft and DIY stores have already put out fall items to get us in the mood. Goodbye Summer, Happy Fall Days are here. High School football games, fall festivals and the end of hurricane season is almost upon us. While the rest of the country will be pulling out sweaters and coats we will still be wearing our summer clothes well into the fall months wishing for cooler temperatures while we put up the fall decorations and stash away the reminders of summer. So now it is time to say goodbye to summer.
