Shopping with my Pickin Sisters was a fun day. I met up with Sue and Laurie at our favorite spot. It is not your upscale, clean aisles, organized kind of place. It is a down and get dirty who knows what you will find but you will find some very interesting, one of a kind items, old things, new things, cheap things, and maybe more money then what you think it is worth things. Actually the places where we started out don’t seem like thrift stores it feels more like a warehouse.
The area where we always start at has a few stores owned by different owners. One place was closed, new owners are coming in. We’re looking forward to checking it out the next time around. I found most of my treasures at J & M Auctions. So I ended up with 2 chairs. Yes we all know I have a chair addiction. I am looking for a chair to go with the desk I bought several weeks ago.
This one is to French looking so I may recreate it as a side chair. Maybe toile on the seat?
This chair may work. The desk is at Laurie’s warehouse so she took it with her so I can figure it out when I go over there to work on the desk. I may keep looking.
The flip top table is an old one. I really had to bargain the sales clerk down. Thrift stores are becoming expensive. Sue gave me a great idea on what to do with it so I can’t wait to get started on it. Stay tuned for that one. Then I was drawn to this little step stool. I don’t plan on doing anything except scrub it down and put some kind of protecterant on it to preserve its chippy look.
Neither one of them came home empty handed. Laurie is the one who really cleaned up. She is in the process of opening her own store, selling gently used items, especially Florida themed pieces. She is a terrific shopper and knows her vintage items. She got a great deal on a Mid Century Modern Chest and Dresser that she needs to pick up.
Sue is gathering up items because she is going to be remodeling her house. One of her favorite things to do is making making and restoring lamps.
Look at the fantastic items she is going to recreate. The mirror will be getting a make over and end up in one of the bathrooms.
So I know I said no more shopping until I get some stuff done but I really needed it. How great to spend time with good friends who inspire and encourage. I really did have a fun day shopping with my pickin sisters. And we are all looking forward to another fun day Shopping With My Pickin Sisters in the near future.
Hey, can I come next time????????
Yes, we would love that. We haven’t planned the next day but I will let you know. We usually go on a Friday, does that work for you? As a matter of fact I was telling Sue and Laurie how your mother was the master of pickin.
Such a wonderful feeling to work & play with amazing ladies! Our lives are pretty special when we love our jobs and the people we spend time with. You ladies are like my fountain of youth, I feel healed and inspired each time we are together.
It is a special day because we inspire and encourage one another in our dreams. Plus it is so much fun to find our treasures and have a good lunch out.
That is so Awesome, I can see you all having the time of your life, wish I could have been there, 😉
We did have a great time and we all were so happy with our finds.
You ladies made a killing!
I know you missed it. Jimmy was so nice. And our buddy took such good care of us. Next time.
These are really great pieces Debra! I’m sure you can’t wait to get your hands on them. I wish we had some thrift stores here but unfortunately they are only in Athens and they are overpriced. Glad you had fun with your pickin sisters.
Thank you Mary, You are right about getting my hands on my prizes. And it seems lately it is last one in is the first one out as my garage is stuffed to the gills.
Such wonderful finds, Debra, and what a lovely day you had. Your flip top table is a terrific buy–can’t wait to see what you do with it 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up with Vintage Charm!
Oh Diana we did have such fun. I have a few ideas of what to do with the table but sometimes these things take on a life of their own and end up in an entirely different direction. Thanks so much.
